FAQ

What is a zine?
wouldn't you like to know, weather boy
What is JayVik?
Jayvik is the ship depicting Jayce Talis and Viktor from Arcane, an animated television show.
What is the expected output of this zine?
We plan to produce a digital zine as well as physical merch!
Do I have to be trans to apply to this zine?
Yes, any identity under the trans umbrella is welcome to apply. This includes nonbinary, genderqueer, genderfluid, two spirit, and ANY other identity that means you do not align with your assigned gender at birth.
If I don't identify as trans, can I still interact / purchase the zine or merch?
Yes, of course! We would love if you interacted with us on social media, liked/shared our posts, and purchased this zine and/or its merch. We love our cis allies <3
Will there be an NSFW side zine?
Yes.
Do I have to be 18+ to apply (even for the SFW zine)?
Yes, all contributors must be 18 or older by the time of application. If you turn 18 during the application period, that counts!
Would transfem/non-binary JayVik be included? Or will it be transmasc only?
We allow and encourage depictions of any and all identities under the trans umbrella, so yes!
Is there an estimate of how many can participate?/Can you include more contributors since it's a digital zine and you aren't limited to page number?
We estimate that the zine will have roughly 20 page artists, 2 spot artists, 5-7 merch artists, and 5-7 writers depending on what length the mods ultimately decide to go with.
Are you shipping to (insert country here)?
As long as we are able to ship to that country from the USA, then yes.
Will this zine include VikJayce or AUs?
The zine will be Arcane/League focused, including depictions of League Vikjayce and AUs. We ask that AUs not stray from the focus of the zine. For example, a Modern AU Jayvik exploring the aspect of how modern medicine allows for transition is acceptable, but a Star Wars AU with primary focus on the Stars Wars aspect and a throwaway line about the characters being trans is not. Ultimately, we want to highlight the T4T aspect of the zine, while also acknowledging that beings trans comes in many shapes and forms.
League of Legends skin AUs (as in, AUs where LoL skins come from, such as Battle Academia Jayce or Deathsworn Viktor) will be considered on a pitch by pitch basis by the mods.
Can we have more specific guidelines around what sort of NSFW will be allowed?
Yes, you can find more details on the Content Warnings page.
If I have created / posted content in the past that is against the NSFW guidelines listed, can I still apply?
Yes. We will not be judging applicants on their personal preferences / works they have created or posted before. Our assessment will be entirely based on the samples submitted. We will not tolerate harassment of any kind.
Are some aspects of body horror allowed in the zine? In a euphoric way, if that makes sense.
More details will be on the CW page linked above, but considering canon touches on body horror, yes. The mods reserve the right to make determinations of what is allowed in the zine on a case by case basis.
Do applicants have to be very active in the fandom / social media to participate?
No, as long as you have a portfolio sufficient for the contributor application, you are welcome to apply. We will not be taking social media presence or following into account when evaluating applicants.
How will contributors be compensated?
At a minimum, we plan to split any profits after production costs between our chosen charity and the contributors. Depending on how well the zine sales go, we would love to also offer full bundles (zine pdf + all merch) to all contributors!
What will the selection process for writers / artists be?
More info on our Contributor Guidelines page!

Overall Guidelines

APPLICATION GUIDELINESApplicants MUST be 18 years of age or older by the time the application window closes. Applicants also MUST identify under the trans umbrella. We are not the trans cops and have no interest in transvestigating anyone, so please be honest. An email address and at least one form of social media account is required. Applicants must have a Discord account or be willing to create one upon acceptance as all zine coordination will happen via the zine's Discord server. If applying for the NSFW sections, please read our Content Warnings page to make sure your applications fall within our guidelines. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. All applications will be evaluated based on the submitted samples alone. We will not be taking into consideration social media follower counts, AO3 stats, other works created/posted in the past, or anything of that nature.Applicants will be able to identify whether they would be interested in being a pinch hitter on their application. A pinch hitter is someone who comes into the project late in the case that a contributor drops out. Whether an applicant says yes or no on this question will have no effect on their application and pinch hitters can always say "no" with no hard feelings if asked to step in.CONTRIBUTION SPECIFICATIONSPlease be prepared to provide 2-3 pitches / ideas for what you would like to create! The use of AI will not be tolerated, nor will copying or plagiarism of any kind.

Writer Guidelines

WRITER APPLICATION GUIDELINESApplicants must submit 3 samples of 1500-2500 words each, with 100 words flex in either direction if absolutely necessary. The first sample MUST be standalone / a oneshot, while the other two can be snippets of a larger story. For snippets, please give us any needed context at the top of the shared file.If you are applying for the SFW portion of the zine, submit SFW samples. If you are applying for the NSFW portion of the zine, submit NSFW samples. Applicants are welcome to apply for both sides of the zine (the form will allow 3 samples to be submitted for each), but must indicate a preference as they can only be a part of one or the other. Please tag works appropriately at the top of the file that you are submitting. If you are wondering what "appropriately" means, think, how would I tag this on AO3 (overall rating, content warnings, characters/pairings, etc.)?At least one sample must be JayVik or VikJayce in some capacity as we would like to see how you write the pairing. The other two can be non-JayVik / non-Arcane, but of course any additional JayVik past the one sample required is a bonus. At least one sample with trans Jayce and/or trans Viktor is greatly encouraged but not required. It would help us to see what sort of work contributors might write for this zine.Submission via Google Docs is recommended but we are open to other file sharing methods. File links MUST be set to "sharing" so that we may access the file. Any links that we cannot access will result in an automatic disqualification of your application. We will not be reaching out to people if links do not work, so make sure to double and even triple check each one in Incognito mode (or something similar) first.OPTIONAL: Applicants will be able to add a link to their portfolio (such as their AO3 profile) for additional reference if they so choose. Not submitting a portfolio will not negatively impact your application. Similarly, applicants may also share any specific ideas or pitches they may like to write about in the zine. Not submitting any pitches will not negatively impact your application, nor will applicants be held to these pitches if they are accepted into the zine.WRITER CONTRIBUTION SPECIFICATIONSThe final wordcount must be between 1.5K and 2.5K words. The story must be complete and stand on its own, that is, it cannot end on a cliffhanger and cannot be a continuation of an existing story/series. It must be written in English. Plagiarism or the use of AI will not be tolerated.

Artist Guidelines

ARTIST APPLICATION GUIDELINESApplicants must submit 3 of what they consider to be their best pieces. Try to pick pieces that include strong backgrounds, composition, and anatomy! We would love if at least 1 piece was Arcane, if not JayVik specifically. If you don't have an Arcane piece in your portfolio that does NOT disqualify you. Similarly, at least one piece depicting transgender folks is greatly encouraged but not required. It would help us to see what sort of work contributors might create for this zine.If you are applying for the SFW portion of the zine, submit SFW pieces. If you are applying for the NSFW portion of the zine, submit NSFW pieces. Applicants are welcome to apply for both sides of the zine (the form will allow 3 pieces to be submitted for each), but must indicate a preference as they can only be a part of one or the other.Submission via Google Docs is recommended but we are open to other file sharing methods. File links MUST be set to "sharing" so that we may access the file. Any links that we cannot access will result in an automatic disqualification of your application. We will not be reaching out to people if links do not work, so make sure to double and even triple check each one in Incognito mode (or something similar) first.OPTIONAL: Applicants will be able to add a link to their portfolio for additional reference if they so choose. Not submitting a portfolio will not negatively impact your application. Similarly, applicants may also share any specific ideas or pitches they may like to draw for the zine. Not submitting any pitches will not negatively impact your application, nor will applicants be held to these pitches if they are accepted into the zine.ARTIST CONTRIBUTION SPECIFICATIONSFinal sizing for pieces will be A5.

MERCH ARTIST APPLICATION GUIDELINESApplicants must submit 2-3 examples of what they consider to be their best pieces of merch produced in the past. All merch will be SFW. There will be no NSFW merch. Please do not submit any NSFW work for the merch application. Applicants will have the chance to indicate what types of merch they would be interested in / feel comfortable creating for this zine.We would love to see at least one piece that is JayVik or VikJayce in some capacity but it is not required. Similarly, at least one piece with trans Jayce and/or trans Viktor is greatly encouraged but not required. It would help us to see what sort of merch contributors might create for this zine.Submission via Google Docs is recommended but we are open to other file sharing methods.
